Do something about it!

If you're angry about the treatment of the Kershaw show and want to make your voice heard, you can write to Andy Parfitt, the controller of Radio 1 at:

Andy Parfitt
Controller Radio 1
BBC Yalding House
152/156 Great Portland Street
London W1N 6AJ

Here's a few exchanges of letters with Controller Radio 1 .

You can send an email to Feedback

Feedback is a programme on Radio 4 which deals with listeners' complaints and they got a large number of emails from disgruntled Kershaw listeners. Parfitt was the lead item, but he just said the same thing he's been saying in email responses to listeners who complained. Here's a transcript of the interview, and also a RealAudio version.

Feedback goes out again on Friday 9th June at 1:30pm (repeated Sunday 11th June at 8pm). I think it's important to get a second wave of emails sent in time for this programme. They have the power to put Parfitt on the spot and make him answer questions. Here are some replies to Feedback, urging them to keep the pressure on. Please take the time to contact Feedback and maybe by sheer weight of numbers we can achieve something.

You can make use of the BBC Cultural Diversity survey.

The BBC are currently asking for feedback from users of their website specifically on the topic of cultural diversity in the BBC's output. Kershaw's programme fitted this bill perfectly, so please visit this link and leave a message. BBClistens - have your say Here's what we sent them .

Here are a few other suggestions from Ian Anderson (editor of Folk Roots) of suitable places to write to.
