Peel makes Cosmopolitan magazine's 100 most loved men

As revealed by John Peel himself on Tuesday night's programme (20-10-98), Cosmopolitan magazine has published its 1998 list of the 100 men its readers love most in the world. In at number 47 is music-loving John Peel, beating names such as Johnny Vaughan, David Bailey, Damon from Blur, Kevin Spacey, Matt Dillon, Mel Gibson, Dustin Hoffman, Bono and Gary Oldman (but coming behind Nelson Mandela, The Dalai Lama, Sting, David Beckham, Steve Coogan and others).

Peel pronounced himself pleased with his achievement but admitted "It's come a bit late in life".
